The end of the season…

Apr

As a pool and snooker player, the end of the season 2010-2011, is a strange periode. It’s something to look forward to as well as something you don’t want to happen. I hate the end of the season, because it’s then a long wait to restarting our league. Ok, I get to play some individual tournaments, but the vibe you get isn’t the same as when you play as a team. We played are last match on the 8th of April and the season only starts mid-September, so it’s gonna be a long wait! However…

A while back I posted the Facebook usage statistics for Western Europe and i’ve recieved some feedback on that matter. Today I looked up the same statistics using the same method but came up with some interesting results. It seems that some countries are losing intrest in Facebook. 4 out of the top 5 countries in Facebook penetration in my previous article are now part of the top 5 countries with the biggest decline in users, amongst them all Scandinavian countries!

Some thoughts on riding the Google wave

Jun

Last week I got an e-mail from Google. The long anticipated account for Google Voice! I was so prepared to give it a try. Mocking everyone else that they didn’t get an invite would be my next game (Uhm no…). But at least I would have to pay less, as I would convince some people to use voip (in combination with wifi). When I logged in there was only a blank page and a notification that stated:

European Facebook Usage Statistics

Facebook has been around for a few years now and it’s popularity increases by the minute, despite some efforts against it. A lot of my friends, colleagues and family are on Facebook, myself included. A recent post on Ramon Suarez’s site about Facebook caught my eye. It concerned the Facebook usage in Belgium (and another about Spain) stating that 1 out 3 Belgians is a member of the Facebook community, which surprised me quite a bit. This encouraged me to do my own research, not that I doubt his sources, I just wanted to expand the reach of the research and see for myself. So I set forth to find the amount of users per country and comparing that with the latest statistics concerning population for the same country. A spreadsheet and a bit of photoshop/paint later I came up with this (simple) graph representing the national Facebook usage statistics for Western Europe.

Unique Design Pool Tables: The G-1 & G-4

May

A post on one of my bookmarks ‘The Chive‘ gave me the idea of doing a series of posts on Unique Design Pool Tables, hence the name of my blogpost. Though the standard pool table has certain specifications it must adhere to in order to be considered to be competition compatible there are many different designs. Ranging from small/big, basic/high-tech or even retro/high-tech. So whatever floats your boat, you’ll be able to find something you like.

While surfing the web at times you stumble upon something interesting between the piles of ‘less interesting stuff’ :-) . Sites like YouTube have an archive of advertisements that surpass our ability to process on our own. Once and a while somebody straightens the mess out, just a little bit. This deserves our attention, especially if it’s as interesting as this! Read more »

Happy Birthday Bono!

May

You may or may not know ‘Paul David Hewson‘ but the name ‘Bono’ must ring a bell. If you haven’t heard of Bono, you probably haven’t turned on a radio in the past 3 decades. Paul and Bono are one and the same person, though the latter is more famous, to say the least. Bono is Paul’s alter ego and happens to be the lead singer of the Irish rockband U2. Today, may 10th 2010 is Bono’s 50th Birthday.

To celebrate Bono’s Birthday I’m sharing some of my favorite U2 songs ever…
